Week 13 – Primer, Shadow Boxing & Chair Rail

•November 15, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Even though I didn’t think the shadow boxing and chair rail was necessary, I have to admit that it looks good (Jenn was right).  The boxed ceiling in the master bedroom and sitting room likes nice too – it really does add depth to the rooms.

Week 11 – Drywall! (5 November)

The title says it all – seems like the place keeps getting bigger as they put more stuff in it.

Week 10 – Insulation (27 October)

Not much to show this week; just some insulation being installed.  There is a pic of some pipes and miscellaneous framing as well.

Week 9 – Brick & Bath (18 October)

We have our brick water table installed, and the porch now has a roof.  There is a jetted tub in the picture; what a pleasant surprise!  Jenn is standing in what will be a shower with a seat.

There is some wrap and windows, as well as some doors.  Enjoy!

Week 5 – Framing & Roofing

The place looks so much different now; it seemed small before the frame went up, but seems huge now.  We took so many pics that I uploaded them to flickr; click here to see them all.  I can’t believe how quickly it’s going up, and how good it’s looking already.  We are definitely happy with our decision to buy from Centex!!

Week 4 – A Basement!

•September 19, 2009 • Leave a Comment

There weren’t any changes to the house or site for Week 3, so I didn’t have any pictures to post.  I think the rain kept them from doing much that week.  This week we found a base for the floor above the basement, and some framing for the basement areas.  All the dirt had been redistributed to create the front and side yard, as well as the walk-out condition in the back.

Week 2 – Concrete Foundation!

We stopped by the site this evening after dinner (at Stafford’s newest and greatest bar and sports lounge, Mick’s) to take some pictures and check out the progress.  The foundation is in place and it’s beautiful!  Next week I’ll post about the process we went through to get here and provide some background.  Enjoy the pics!

Week 1 – Stake Out And Excavation (29 August)

The permits have been approved!  The Centex folks are ready to start construction on the house, and have prepped the site.  We stopped by and could see that some excavation had been done; they also installed the silt fence and construction access driveway (a bunch of gravel).  Pics attached…..

Welcome To Our New House Blog!

So we decided to build a house…and we thought we should document the entire process.  We’re already at the ground-breaking/concrete pouring stage, but we’ll catch you up as we go along.  For the sake of simplicity, we’ll start with Week 1 as the first week of actual development at the home site.  Enjoy!
